I found myself lost in whistleblower retaliation hell, which I never thought possible in my line of work. After consulting with the National Whistleblower Center and filing an OSHA/DOL complaint, I was put in touch with Eric Siegel. Given the level of respect for the National Whistleblower Center, I trusted the referral.

He's busy, he's a lawyer and handles pretty much everything himself so it's to be expected; however, I got all the attention I needed on this matter. No missed deadlines, all submissions were timely and responsiveness was excellent.

In any of these situations, you have to have a decent head on your shoulders with reasonable expections, and copies of all the receipts. A lawyer is not a magician and they either won't, or you don't want to pay them to, organize your scrapbook and rolodex. Get your goodies together, learn as much as you can about the law as it relates to your case, then call up Mr. Seigel to get the ball rolling.

I ended up reluctantly settling, which went against every fiber in my being. Eric was open to whatever decision I made on the matter, and respectful of my opinions, but I landed as another statistic in the enormous settlement piece of the pie chart, not making a bit of difference for the future.

I can't imagine I'd ever need him again but if I do, me and my bag of receipts will be right back in the Eric Siegel Law inbox.
