Client Reviews
Because of this lack of attention and transparency, I was placed in situations I did not want to be in and felt completely left in the dark throughout my case. At one point, while I was confused about what the office was asking me to do, the receptionist referred to her own boss as “dumb.” That alone spoke volumes about the level of professionalism and respect within the office.
I also later discovered misleading information that made me lose all trust. At this point, I had to switch lawyers in the middle of my divorce just to get proper guidance and progress on my case. No client should have to work harder than their attorney to get basic communication or honesty.
Let me state, we cannot speak on Jason Donoghue as he was not our attorney nor did we ever encounter him. This is a review for the other attorney here, Chris Daniels. The first red flag should’ve been when he didn’t show up to our scheduled consultation. He did apologize the next day and we went in the next day for a consultation. We hired and paid him back in March for what should’ve been a simple litigation with a corporation. We did all the work for him, all he had to do was attempt to make contact and then file the complaint. At the end of April, we emailed him as we didn’t hear from him and he said he sent a letter and called the company we are pursuing the issue with. We never received a copy of the letter even after we requested it and he said he would send it. He also said he doesn’t upload anything to the client portal? Another month goes by and we heard nothing again so we send another email asking for an update. The email went unanswered. After no response, we called him. He states he got in contact with someone two weeks prior and they told him to give them a week to get back to him (a week already went by, you should’ve called them back at this point or sent a summons but we were trying to be patient). Another two weeks goes by and have not heard anything from him again. We call him again the week of 4th of July and he said that Monday he’s gonna be sending a summons and he will email us a copy of it. So we called again 2 weeks later (heard nothing again), he said he was working on it over the weekend and that he hasn’t sent the summons yet. We were frustrated beyond belief and decided we would give him once last chance to see if he was being honest. Now the beginning of August approaches and we STILL have not been contacted by him. At this point we cannot keep chasing him to do his job nor can we keep waiting for this to be filed. We call the office again and get his receptionist. She tells us he’s in court but she can take a message and he will call us back. A whole week goes by, no call back and the email we sent him went unanswered. We call again after a week with no response only to get the receptionist again and all she says is “he’s unavailable”. We ask when we can expect to hear from him as we not only called twice but sent a few emails with no response. She said “well he’s been in court and he had a funeral so email would be the best way to reach him at this point”. I couldn’t believe the unprofessionalism. Sending a letter, making a few phone calls and filing a summons should not take 4 1/2 months, let alone 6. Our portal is empty and we have no copies of anything he supposedly did. I feel like I got scammed. We have no invoices for any hours used or to account for what I paid for upfront.
As I write this review, we have not gotten a response from Chris Daniels. We are going on two months since we spoke to the receptionist. I want my retainer back. This is NOT the service I paid for! I’m appalled at the unprofessional service we’ve received and I’m appalled that there was NO communication on his part to us, we always had to contact him! If you have something personal going on, it’s your responsibility to communicate that with your clients, whether that be you or the receptionist. After terminating him and requesting our retainer refunded back in August, I had to go hire another attorney, start the process all over again, and pay them all while waiting for Chris Daniels to refund my money. You should not be practicing law if this is how you’re going to treat clients. Awful service. I don’t want excuses, I don’t even want an apology at this point. I want my money back as you did nothing and wasted my time for 6 months when I needed legal help.
