Western Washington University should have been held accountable by this office for defrauding students on financial aid. What happened instead? A lot. Does the public know what really happened to those students? Of course not.

Western Washington University unlawfully disclosed my student all mental health counseling records from all 6 years of college during the start of a criminal investigation for rape in the second degree. Then WWU violated my FERPA rights again and disclosed all 6 years of my student health center records. WWU has openly admitted to violating my privacy rights and has prevented me from knowing the details of what happened. This caused me to miss reporting deadlines so that these violations could be investigated. In the context of the rape case, Western Washington University handed my priveleged information to an attorney defending a man who is essentially a stranger and 8 years older than me, who preyed on me when I was 24. None of the records which were disclosed had anything to do with the date of the rape being investigated, these records should have been quashed instead of released.

These issues are very concerning and won't be known about due to WWU blocking my attrmpts to defend myself privately. The stress from this has been horrific. I have repeatedly felt like my only chances of feeling any relief would be if I were dead.

The attorney general office answers on behalf of WWU (unfortunately), so that is why a complaint about WWU is here. The damage from this is beyond the scope of this rape case. Every interaction with my own university will be extremely uncomfortable for the rest of my life. I'll always regret choosing to attend this university and giving them any money or support. This university absolutely wins the trophy for destroying my life. This was egregious and horrendous for a university to do to not just a student, but a rape victim. I don't know how many times WWU has violated my privacy without my awareness. And I no longer feel safe to report a single crime because WWU will ruin anything I try to do.
