The intake guy, name unrecalled, contacted me in the evening to gather information about the legal separation I am seeking.
He was terrible! He asked very inappropriate questions such as how was I able to pay off my house, where did I get the money, where did I keep my money, why did I give my spouse a lump sum of money and what is he going to do with it? Also, he basically told me our assets could not be separated how we wanted, even if we agreed and that everything, to include debts had to be split 50/50 no matter what! That’s ridiculous! My spouse and I can agree to whatever we want! He told me I needed to just get a divorce and insinuated “because I’m just going to get screwed over by my spouse if I don’t”, not exact words but same meaning. He talked to me like an idiot child, he was condescending, combative, argumentative, he did not listen and continuously talked over me. He was acting like a sleazy, shady car salesman. After 45 minutes of him badgering me, I told him I needed to think things over. He said he needed my address before we hung up, hmmmm, why? I said no and he said have a nice evening and hung up! I’m not sure how the attorneys are but this guy is not an asset to their practice!
Found an attorney the next day and he did not need to know any of those details, and he will legally split our assets how we want.
