First of all, stop now and hire Van Severen Law Offices. We had Ben Van Severen, but every attorney employed there is just part of the Law Firms internal network. They are like a hive mind of kicking ace! I truly believe that Van Severen Law will surpass Kim and Lavoy or Grieve as the top name in defense for SE Wisconsin. They are young and immensely talented. We hired Ben Van Severen to help a family member with an OWI. Ben came highly recommended from a friend who Ben had gotten off his 4th offense OWI. We knew the case would involve filing motions to suppress evidence. Motions are a standard part of pre-trial, and most Attorney's will charge you 1-3k extra for each motion (which is crazy in the AI era). We called around most of the big names that a Google search will give you. We were getting quoted 4k up to 10k and EVERY SINGLE one of them charged extra for each motion they have to file. Ben's price for pre-trial was so reasonable, it almost makes you wonder if he's a terrible attorney. That is 1000% NOT the case. Ben removes all the stress and handles everything. He communicates what needs to be communicated, and he answers any and all questions promptly. He's also very transparent with what your costs are upfront and then at the next stage of it gets that far. Ben does not charge extra to file a motion, the only attorney I talked to out of 8 that didn't. In this case, Ben filed a motion around the traffic stop as the cops dashcam didn't show what the cop stated. The traffic stop was suppressed and the case was dismissed. Clean win, and the family member never even stepped foot in the court room at all.

Attorney Benjamin Van Severen is a great lawyer. He put up a great fight on my behalf, and thanks to his hard work I received no prison time. I would trust Benjamin for any and all criminal defense cases. Thank you Ben.

I want everyone to pay attention to the fact they don’t respond to anything but 5 star reviews. We hired Matt Last to represent my husband and he consistently was underwhelming and unimpressive. We asked for a change of venue. We asked him to look into Facebook messages. We told him to challenge the PSI because the officer knew my husband. We asked him to do so much and he did very little other than take our money. He came to sentencing with no notes and responded to nothing the judge or DA offered. It felt like he was scared to victim blame even when it was a complete lie. Do NOT hire Matt Last. Lazy is a nice word to describe him. My husband didn’t get his closing statement until he walked into court. All Matt had to say was he liked my husband and that should have been enough??? I don’t know if he has too much on his plate or what but other than walking me through what was happening, he didn’t do much as a defense. When I asked him what could have been done differently, instead of reflecting, he said nothing else could have been done. Highly don’t recommend.
