It took nearly six months to prepare what should have been a straightforward separation agreement. During that time, communication was extremely poor, and most of my interactions were with a legal assistant rather than the attorney I hired. At one point, I was transferred from Sheneshia Fitts to another lawyer without any notice or explanation. I was repeatedly assured the case would stay in North Carolina because it was filed there first. Once my ex-wife filed in Canada, that confidence disappeared. The firm had no real strategy, offered little guidance, and essentially left me on my own after taking thousands of dollars in fees. Instead of fighting for my interests, they told me to hire a Canadian lawyer and start over.
