A lawyer is an expert in law, pursuing a learned art in the service of clients and in the spirit of public service, engaging in these pursuits as part of a common calling to promote justice and the public good. Essential characteristics of a lawyer are knowledge of the law, skill in applying the applicable law to the factual context, thoroughness of preparation, practical and prudential wisdom, ethical conduct and integrity, and dedication to justice and public good. Mr. Jones failed to demonstrate thorough preparation and prudential wisdom. He had a 61-day window (March 10, 2021, through May 10, 2021) to request a change of date or a continuance due to his conflicting bible study class. His failure to anticipate and resolve this conflict exemplifies a lack of foresight and professional diligence. A lawyer, as a member of the legal profession, is a representative of clients, an officer of the legal system, and a public citizen with special responsibility for the quality of justice. Due to Mr. Jones' actions, Mr. Matthews was denied visitation with his son for over three months, as evidenced by subsequent emails. A lawyer's conduct should conform to the requirements of the law in both professional service to clients and in the lawyer's business and personal affairs. A lawyer should use the law's procedures only for legitimate purposes and not to harass or intimidate others. A lawyer should demonstrate respect for the legal system and for those who serve it, including judges, other lawyers, and public officials. While it is a lawyer's duty, when necessary, to challenge the rectitude of official action, it is also a lawyer's duty to uphold legal processes. Mr. Jones did not show respect for the legal system. He had ample time to inform the court of his scheduling conflict but chose to leave the hearing early, informing the court of his departure during the proceedings. This conduct is not in line with the expectations of a professional attorney. Many of a lawyer's professional responsibilities are prescribed in the Rules of Professional Conduct, as well as substantive and procedural law. However, a lawyer is also guided by personal conscience and the approbation of professional peers. A lawyer should strive to attain the highest level of skill, improve the law and the legal profession, and exemplify the legal profession's ideals of public service. Mr. Jones' actions did not align with these professional ideals, demonstrating a lapse in the responsibilities outlined in Rule 8. I would also like to thank Mr. Jones for losing his request for lawyer fees and having no fiduciary responsibility to the court. Why don't you leave early again so a father cannot visit with his son Holy Man? Wait you requested meditation at least five times after the first mediation and we were months in court. You lost and what was the outcome from your unyielding pleading for a second mediation. The judge stated ask Mr. Matthews and you were denied just like you requested I pay for your fees and were denied. I also enjoyed listening to you whine about the papers submitted to the judge like a two-year-old child. You also forgot about the other section in the PPP and the list goes on. If you would like any emails to let me know. Your reaction shows there is truth in my words not anger. You have no family values. I was also pleased that the judge decided to waive all court fees, and I only owed $15. I consider that a win too. If anyone would like a copy of what Mr. Jones wanted squashed so badly feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Do not forget, Attorney Bill from the radio is a public figure. Case number CT-006051-07 If you would like to see more details. I was off when I stated my fees were $15 overestimation, they ended up being $14 I thanks for acting like a two-year-old.
