This is the 6th year that we have retained Steve to represent us before the DOE and he has done an outstanding job every year. Steve is an excellent education attorney and just a really good guy! Before we retained him the first year, we looked into some other education attorneys and quickly realized we did not want a firm where most of the work is farmed out to junior attorneys. With Steve, he has always been the attorney that we have dealt with every step of the way. He is experienced, smart, empathetic, and super-responsive when we had any questions.

The DOE can be difficult to deal with, bureaucratic and slow as molasses, especially during the pandemic. Steve negotiated very favorable settlements for us every year except the last academic year, when the DOE was dragging its feet even more than usual and we went to a hearing for the first time, but we knew we were in good hands. Steve fully prepared us, we had the impartial hearing by phone because it was during Covid times, and we received a favorable decision from the impartial hearing officer: 100% reimbursement from the DOE. This last year was particularly difficult because the DOE was slow to reimburse even after we had a fully favorable decision in hand, but Steve was pro-active and stayed on top of the DOE until we were paid. Steve is easy to work with, compassionate, highly competent, and his fees are reasonable! We highly recommend Steve!
