We hired this firm over 3 years ago to handle what was supposed to be a voluntary consent step-parent adoption. About 1.5 years into this process, the attorney handling our case ended up leaving, and Mike stepped in to take over what had become a contested step-parent adoption. Mike only had a few months to prepare for trial. For that reason, he could have easily continued our trial date, but he knew that our trial date would mark 2 years that we had been waiting. He quickly became familiar with our case. He never pressured us to enter into a settlement agreement and when the opportunity came to offer the other party an agreement, Mike listened to our wishes and did not offer anything we were not comfortable with. He asked for our approval for anything he filed. He worked for our family and knew what our child needed and deserved. He handled our trial flawlessly, posing the right questions and presenting evidence that was undeniable to anyone looking at the best interests of a child. Our adoption was denied. Mike worked with the attorney we hired to handle the appeal! Though the Allen County judge denied our adoption, the court of appeals thought otherwise! Our adoption was finally granted last week. And we couldn’t have picked a better team. Shout out to Jennifer one of Mike’s assistants. She was there from the start. Even though all of our conversations were via email she was very supportive through this process!
