I am posting this after the conclusion of a multi-year custody case in Washington County, where I am now the adoptive parent of my stepson.

Brian Rabal served as guardian ad litem in this case.

In our experience, his involvement raised serious concerns about consistency, responsiveness, and judgment throughout the process.

There were extended periods where we had little to no contact with him outside of upcoming court dates. Communication was often limited, and filings were at times delayed. During home visits, interactions included comments that felt inappropriate for the role.

We also repeatedly raised concerns about my son's environment and safety during the case, including specific information we believed warranted investigation. From our perspective, those concerns were not meaningfully addressed.

Ultimately, custody was awarded following criminal developments involving the child’s other parent.

This process was long and difficult, and the outcome for our son today is something we are deeply grateful for. He is thriving academically, athletically, and personally.
