I understand that not every law firm is going to take every case, and I can respect that. What disappointed me was the way I was treated after I simply asked questions about why my case was declined.

This firm spent about a week reviewing my evidence, videos, recordings, and the details surrounding the incident. During that time, everyone was very friendly and professional, which honestly made me feel confident that they genuinely cared and were going to help me through the situation.

After they decided not to take the case, the entire tone changed. I politely asked what specifically was lacking in the evidence because I genuinely wanted to understand what would have strengthened my case, especially so I could better protect myself in the future if something similar ever happened again.

Instead of receiving a clear or professional explanation, I was basically told, “I don’t know, and I don’t want to talk about it.” I was also told that I appeared intoxicated in the video. Yes, I had drinks at Hooters — like many people there do — but that does not automatically mean someone deserves to be assaulted or treated unfairly. Nobody ever tested or proved intoxication. In the videos, I was still speaking clearly, remaining calm, and trying to handle the situation professionally despite being upset and shocked by what had happened.

Again, I completely understand a law firm has the right to decline any case they want. My issue is with the professionalism and communication afterward. People contacting attorneys are often already stressed and looking for guidance. A little more respect and willingness to communicate would have gone a long way.
