I STRONGLY recommend that anyone considering Oliver & Legg think very carefully before retaining this firm. My experience with attorney Bill Oliver has been one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I have ever had with a professional. I paid approximately $22,000 in legal fees, and I am now left questioning what meaningful work was actually performed for me after that payment. There have also been serious disagreements regarding what I was told about an estate/property matter and what ultimately appeared in the paperwork. Multiple people were present for conversations that I believe were very clear, yet I am now being told that those conversations essentially did not happen the way we remember them. That is extremely concerning when you are dealing with decisions involving hundreds of thousands of dollars. Today, when I attempted to discuss these issues with Bill Oliver directly, instead of receiving a professional explanation or an attempt to resolve the situation, he hung up on me and told me to “get lost.” Regardless of whatever disagreement exists between an attorney and a client, I cannot imagine treating a paying client that way—especially after collecting substantial legal fees. Communication, transparency, professionalism, and trust are everything when you hire an attorney to handle major financial and estate matters. Based on my personal experience, I feel I received the exact opposite. I am now having to seek independent legal advice regarding the representation I received, the documents involved, the fees that were charged, and what options may be available to me moving forward. If you are considering retaining Oliver & Legg, my advice is simple: ask extremely detailed questions, get every representation and financial calculation in writing before signing anything, keep copies of every document, and document every conversation. I would never use this firm again.
