Matthew Buttacavoli is the highest caliber of attorney in every sense, and if you are looking for a divorce attorney, it would be a mistake not to hire Matthew. First, I generally do not leave reviews for anything, but I was fortunate enough to find Matthew through reviews, so I feel obligated to leave a review to help other people who are searching for a divorce attorney. I know the challenges of divorce and the challenge of finding an attorney to trust with your family and the rest of your life. Second, I am an attorney, and a partner in a large international law firm. I believe working at the highest levels of the legal profession gives me some insight into who is an excellent attorney and who is not. When it comes to family law and divorce attorneys, Matthew is the real deal. Matthew was all around excellent in every aspect of my case. Not only did Matthew have a deep knowledge of the law and understanding of the unique issues in my case, but he was also able to strategize with me regarding my case from start to finish. He could see the issues before they arose, and he planned for them proactively. There were things he did early in the case that did not make any sense to me at the time, but then became absolutely critical as my case progressed. My ex-wife and I were married for over 20 years and we have three children. In the very beginning of our divorce process, my wife and I agreed that we would negotiate a reasonable settlement as amicably and as efficiently as possible. However, what was supposed to be an amicable process quickly turned into highly contentious litigation because my ex-wife’s attorney (John Bledsoe) decided litigating and being as difficult as possible was a better strategy. Before I even hired an attorney, my ex-wife and I agreed to 50/50 child custody, but upon advice from her attorney she changed asking for 70/30. In addition, her attorney advised her to ask the Court for minors’ counsel to fight over custody regardless of how it would have impacted our children. He then caused her to refuse to negotiate or enter into settlement negotiations and went straight into litigation after we made an offer. Her attorney had her file a secret court filing and served Matthew and me six weeks later on the afternoon before we all went out for Christmas vacation. Her attorney had her fabricate excuses to try to move out of the family home early to get temporary support. He had her refuse to allow me to sell our home to put financial pressure on me. He even had her make false statements under oath in court filings thinking it would help their case. Despite all of these dirty tricks played by my ex-wife’s attorney and their abuse of the family legal system, Matthew was able to combat every single one of them. None of my ex-wife’s games worked because of Matthew. Matthew outsmarted her attorney at every step. Matthew was truly impressive in every aspect of my case. When we were in litigation mode, he was a strong and shrewd litigator. Because of how he planned and how strong he is I never feared going to court. When we were in negotiation mode Matthew was strategic and persuasive. When we finally had a settlement conference, Matthew won over my ex-wife. She started asking him legal questions and advice instead of her own attorney. She even gave Matthew a hug after our settlement conference! It was clear even to my ex-wife how strong and persuasive Matthew is and she now refers her friends and acquaintances going through a divorce to Matthew (and she will continue to do so). I will repeat this … my ex-wife has referred friends to Matthew because of the tremendous respect she has for him as an attorney (and a person). In the middle of Matthew deposing my ex-wife, my ex-wife decided to settle. She settled for about 15% less than what we offered her six months before in the very beginning. As you can see, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Matthew. He helped me get through the hardest and scariest part of my life. I will forever be grateful to Matthew.
