Mr. Ed Merrell was recommended to me by a former judge. On hindsight, he was the best attorney for my case. A good balance of accessibility, affordability and humanity all rolled into one. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Merrell for the following reasons:

1) Ed has experience dealing with plenty of judges and attorneys in Jefferson and Shelby counties. This can be helpful because negotiation involves knowing your opponent ahead of time. Mr. Merrell knew which buttons to press, which not to, and gave me very reasonable expectations to anticipate.

2) When I was searching for an attorney, there were those that charged a flat, high fee of five figures promising the sky and those that did not want to understand my unique circumstances. Mr. Merrell, with his firm's experience in other branches of law (such as immigration), was able to extend empathy. Ed's show of humanity was one of the reasons I naturally chose him as my attorney.

3) While the outcome of my case did not end the way I anticipated with the most ideal outcome (most rarely go one party's way), I am happy with the outcome because the solution proposed by Mr. Merrell avoided some downsides while looking to the future. I credit his negotiation style and the way he handled the court dates with finesse and patience. Communicating the reasons for his counsel is another strong point of Ed.

4) Knowing my financial situation, I am eternally grateful for Ed's humanity and ability to empathize with me. He offered very favorable payment terms that was friendly to my budget and situation. I can say that not many attorneys are like this. This is one factor that I did not know ahead of time, but on hindsight, I can only be grateful that I made the right choice. Where other attorneys might have dropped my case halfway, when I most needed legal representation, Ed graciously found a way for my case to continue forward.

5) For the safekeeping of my personal documents, which required them to be sent back to me, I am sincerely grateful that Ed did not charge an arm an a leg, like other attorneys would. Even for the administrative time involved especially with the logistics when it came time for it to be returned, Ed excercised his best judgment to avoid a much hassle on my part.

Overall, if I had to do it all over again, I would not hesitate to have Ed represent me.
