Incredibly unprofessional experience with McDonald Levy & Taylor. This firm drafted a will for my late uncle, naming me as the executor. However, upon his passing, I discovered the will was drafted so poorly that it failed to grant the executor the explicit authority to sell his real estate. Three separate title companies and three independent attorneys all confirmed that the document was flawed. I was forced to go through the court system to obtain an order just to fix their mistake and legally sell the property.

When I brought this to the firm's attention, Whitson Smith admitted the error and assured me they would take the necessary steps to address the issue. Instead of resolving it professionally, the firm hit the estate with a surprise bill for over $3,000 to fix their own drafting error. To make matters worse, Mr. Smith threatened to file court motions to halt all disbursements from the estate if we didn't pay them immediately. Since making that threat, he has completely dodged three phone calls and two emails.

If you want competent legal drafting, reliable communication, and ethical billing practices, look elsewhere.

This is in relation to Kathy H at this firm. She was recommended to my mom to help develop a new will after the death of my dad. She was also helping with Power of Attorney forms. My mom attended the first meeting by herself and came back with signed forms. My sister and I reviewed with my mom and we had questions . My mom set up a second meeting to make adjustments and asked me to attend and my sister would attend on the phone. I met Kathy and she was very rude at the start. She did not shake my hand introduce herself or make any effort to acknowledge I was there. My mom introduced me and we sat down. In conversation Kathy was giving her option and my mom did not understand what she was saying. I started talking to my mom and explain and Kathy ' shushed me' and held up her hand for me to stop talking. I sat back until Kathy gave me permission to speak.
I was respectful only because of my mom or I would have walked. I took time off work to support my mom. The next day my mom is reading the will and is was typed up wrong! I would NOT recommend this firm if you expect respect in how you are treated.
