This review reflects my personal experience and opinions.

I retained this firm for a family law matter and paid approximately $5,000. Despite that expense, we never made a single appearance in court.

Over the course of representation, I met with Mr. Lopez approximately five times. There was no meaningful progress on the case, and key issues—such as opposing counsel’s failure to timely produce discovery—were not addressed in any effective way. In my opinion, rather than pursuing available options such as enforcing deadlines or seeking to compel compliance, the proposed approach was simply to “argue it in court,” which ultimately never occurred.

After I requested to nonsuit the case, discovery and disclosures were suddenly produced by opposing counsel that had not been provided at any earlier point. While I cannot speak to intent, the timing was notable and raised serious concerns about whether the matter was being unnecessarily prolonged while fees continued to accrue.

I made multiple requests for my client file, as well as for any unearned portion of my retainer to be addressed, beginning in February of last year. To date, I have received no meaningful response and still do not have my file.

One of the most concerning incidents involved the amicus attorney appointed for my children, Jeanette Cantu Bazar. Mr. Lopez initiated a call with her, placed her on speakerphone, and when she specifically asked whether she was on speaker, she was told she was not. She then proceeded to discuss me and aspects of the case under that assumption, while I was present and listening without her knowledge. I had no ability to respond to statements being made about me. This raised serious concerns regarding professionalism, transparency, and the handling of sensitive communications in my case.

Separately, I have personally spoken with multiple other individuals—including another attorney—who reported experiencing similar issues with this firm, including missed deadlines, last-minute rescheduling without notice, and being billed for matters they believed resulted from the firm’s own errors. I cannot independently verify their situations, but the consistency of these accounts was notable.

I also provided Mr. Lopez the opportunity to discuss my concerns directly prior to posting this review. That opportunity was not taken.

Based on my experience, my overall impression is that the local family law environment in Corpus Christi does not prioritize efficient resolution. In my opinion, it often appears to operate in a manner that prolongs proceedings unnecessarily, resulting in increased costs to clients.

Bottom line: Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this firm and would strongly advise anyone to consider seeking representation outside of the Corpus Christi area.
