Law Office of Lauren Parnes

Our family had an incredibly disheartening experience with Lauren Parnes. It seems she operates well for traffic tickets from these reviews. But, when working as a public defender she did the bare minimum. My loved one was dealing with severe, lifelong addiction and many years of homelessness. Lauren Parnes completely refused to have any contact with family, even when given written permission and asked to by her client. When asked to explain the legal process, she was condescending and dismissive. A lot of it is problems with the system, in a bigger picture, and how addiction driven cases are handled period, and while a public defender is certainly not a social worker, there still is a level of common sense that could come into play. The one thing she did was advocate to get him pretrial release (something previously assigned public defenders had not) , while refusing to hear any needed context regarding his MH or substance abuse issues or homelessness from family. He was one night late in the evening with no ID, no money, no home/ a condemned address on paper for an old drug house (that apparently prosecutors or probation don't check?) , no treatment mandates, no phone, in an entirely different state from his family... leading to an immediate relapse and loss of stabilization from going off of medication... This was not a safe or helpful move for this client... and predictably it lead to him "reoffending" while homeless pretty rapidly... which devastatingly doubled his sentence from what it was before she entered the case. In the past, in my experience, public defenders have had communication with me, and listened around their clients story from family. The way she operates is a choice. While public defenders are busy, her complete lack of empathy and total refusal to coordinate with a willing family made a bad situation worse. I certainly could NEVER recommend her if you are paying for counsel for a family member with any kind of mental health, addiction related, or other relevant vulnerabilities, because she does not understand them, or how to serve a client like that in the big picture.It is easy to just see a villain and not understand when someone doesn't understand the context. Unless an addict is mandated into treatment or sober living, especially if they're far from any supports, pre-trial release into homelessness is a recipe for an unhappy ending/reoffending, and isn't in that clients wellbeing at all.

Lauren hands down the best I've ever experienced. Very Professional, Communication with her is Key. Goes to bat for you. Knows her profession. She fight for You. I Highly recommend her to Everyone and will differently will use her again if the situation comes again. 5 Stars all around ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ms. Parnes was thorough in her preparation and was calm and professional in all of our meetings and telephone conferences. I would highly recommend her services.

Lauren was wonderful. She made all the arrangements needed for my traffic ticket. She knew how to prepare my case in the most useful way for me. Communication was excellent and she succeeded my expectations. Her calming demeanor and experience guided me every step of the way. I did so appreciate her listening to my concerns. It made my experience so less stressful
