This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a law firm. I was not the client, my relative was, but I was the person who paid for the representation. I agreed to retain this attorney because he came highly recommended through a mutual friend, even though his fee was approximately four times higher than what other well-known law firms quoted for the same type of case. In total, the agreed fee was $15,000, and I paid nearly $13,000. One of the first red flags was that, despite receiving nearly $13,000 from me, the attorney never provided or sent a written fee agreement or contract for anyone to sign. For a matter involving this amount of money, I found that extremely unprofessional. One day before the scheduled court hearing, the attorney terminated his representation, stating that he would not appear in court unless the remaining balance was paid. I requested that he handle the hearing as scheduled and assured him I would arrange the remaining payment, but he refused and withdrew from the case at the last minute. On the hearing date, after we requested an extension, he later claimed that he had appeared in court and argued on our behalf without filing a certification of appearance. When I simply asked for documentation or proof of what he claimed, he became offended, spoke to me rudely and disrespectfully, and to this day has not provided any supporting documents. Although I made the payments, he now refuses to communicate with me and insists he will only speak with the client, even though the client has expressly authorized him to discuss the matter with me. It appears he is avoiding communication because he owes a refund of unearned fees. Over the past month, I have sent multiple emails, text messages, and formal notices in an effort to resolve this matter professionally. Instead of addressing my requests, he repeatedly postpones responding and tells me he is busy with "more important" or potential clients. More than a month has passed, and I still have not received the requested documents, invoices, or any refund. His conduct gives me the impression that he has no intention of resolving this matter voluntarily. Based on my understanding, this conduct may raise concerns under several Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct, including Rules 1.16(d), 1.15(d), 1.3, 1.15, 1.5, and 1.8(f). I hope the State Bar of Georgia reviews this matter and helps ensure that clients and those paying for legal services are treated fairly and professionally. I also expect the attorney may respond to this review by disputing my account or pointing out that I missed a phone call or two. However, that does not change the facts as I experienced them. Everything I have written here reflects what happened and what continues to happen. My advice to anyone considering hiring this firm is simple: save your money. There are many competent, professional attorneys who communicate with their clients, honor their commitments, and treat people with respect. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this firm. And if you can see the response of the attorney, instead of answering to the issues i faced with the law firm, the firm continues to follow the unethical behavior by violating rule 1.6 trying to demean with unrelated case link. Well, this is beneficial for me only if this is the way the firm is behaving. I have got references and lawsuit information on him where he has done the same thing with a lady, terminated her case without fighting it and refused to payback unearned money and she had to go through a lawsuit. Eventually he had to settle outside. Just a suggestion for everyone to look for an attorney who is ethical and professional.
