Kalamazoo Defender

I’m really surprised at the number of high reviews for this service. I’ve known another person also who has dealt with these “defenders” and it’s been awful for both of us.

I think what makes so frustrating is that they operate on the premise to help you but instead I’ve just had misinformation, court dates constantly pushed back, unreturned phone calls, as did the other client I know of.

I don’t know the law & how the court system in kalamazoo works. and if they don’t know they shouldn’t be doing this job. It’s pretty facetious to say that you’ll help someone and then be the opposite of help.

If you’re reading this, remember this is free help and they’re going to do their minimum and not necessarily have to know what they’re doing because there’s no pay increase if they do a better job.

I have hired my own lawyer in the past and it’s 10 times better than this. A decent hired lawyer will fight for you. They will call you back, they will treat you with respect.

This service takes what the prosecutor tells them and simply repeats it to you. There’s no fight to get a better deal or some type of rational justice.

If you can afford it, I would totally hire a lawyer. But for some of us, we’re just stuck with this entity of misinformation and a bad hand holding.

This is the one the best places for actual help I have been to. The people there are friendly and not judgemental, they are doing really great things for the community of Kalamazoo and should be recognized. They didn't give me any type of run around and provided concise and direct help. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
