Nothing in my life adequately prepared me for the process of caring for my aging parents, and like I suspect is the case with the vast majority of people, the need to fully understand what needed to be done at a moment's notice put me on my heels. There are very few people who have the time, wherewithal, or cognitive horsepower that would compel them to become savvy on all the obscure, ambiguous, conflicting, and disjointed laws which relate to the legal and financial requirements, rights, entitlements, options, or processes that one needs to know when one or both of their elderly parents suddenly find themselves unable to care for themselves.
For my family the avalanche of emotional and financial factors which need immediate attention all at the same time was not just overwhelming, but made it nearly impossible to focus on one issue long enough to gain any amount of understanding of the underlying regulations and options.
Had we not found Karen and Amy, two of the most elder law savvy individuals I've ever met, I'm not sure where we would be at this point. They took the one on one time to make sure they understood all elements of our unique situation, that we understood all of our legal and financial obligations and options, and that we were engaging with the most effective partners they work with to provide an clients with the most comprehensive and advantageous guidance possible. They don't nickel and dime, and very clearly explained the flat rate costs and exactly what will be provided.
If you're considering giving them a call because you're finding yourself in a situation involving the care of an elderly family member and find that there is too much that doesn't make sense, you won't regret hiring Jackson Law if you elect to do so.
