I previously had a positive experience with this firm, which is why I chose to use them again. Unfortunately, my experience this time was completely different. My biggest issue was not the settlement itself. It was the poor communication, conflicting information, and the amount of work I had to personally do to determine what was actually happening with my case. There were extended periods when my calls, texts, and portal messages went unanswered. The firm eventually acknowledged in writing that during a staffing transition, my communications were not properly rerouted and had “slipped through the cracks.” One situation was particularly frustrating. For weeks, I was told that my case was being delayed while the firm waited on information involving one of my medical providers. After repeatedly receiving the same explanation, I contacted the parties involved myself and discovered information that directly contradicted what I had been told. Once I brought that information back to the firm, the issue was resolved very quickly. Unfortunately, that was not the only communication problem. During the final stages of settlement, there were additional delays and conflicting updates between the firm and the insurance company. Even after the settlement check arrived at the law office, I received an update from another member of the firm stating that they were still waiting for the check to arrive. I had to correct them using an email I had received from their own office earlier that same day. That pretty much summarizes my experience: I constantly felt like I had to follow up, verify information independently, and then bring that information back to the people who were supposed to be managing my case. I ultimately received my settlement, but getting to that point was unnecessarily stressful and exhausting. A client should be able to rely on their legal team for accurate information without having to independently investigate the status of their own case.
