Hills At Law, P.C. – Kalamazoo Office

After the unexpected death of my mother while we were out of state things just kept getting worse and i made some bad decisions. I was arrested and spent one night in jail. Long story short I needed an attorney which was something I’d never had to do before. They made it so easy and understandable and Justin Workman was assigned my case. He explained what was happening and what my outcomes could be. He was incredibly supportive and honest. Laid out the possibilities pros and cons with each It was incredibly important to have that kind of steady support when dealing with this for the first time. He was very forthcoming and made me feel like I was in control again. A huge thank you to Justin again and the entire team at Hills Law!

I began by calling several law offices, hoping to find someone with values, morals, and ethics. A couple of places seemed more interested in signing me up and taking my money than truly understanding the nature of my situation. This was the first office I contacted where the intake person genuinely listened to my story and to all of my concerns about why I needed an attorney.

The woman who handled the intake was exactly what I had been looking for. She seemed to have a solid legal understanding of the context of my situation, and after speaking with her, I could tell she was sympathetic and understanding. They then set me up with Arden, and when I spoke with him, he also showed both understanding and compassion for what I was dealing with.

I found myself in a position where I needed an attorney because the police lacked the ability and training to effectively do their job. Arden did a good job presenting the information and evidence before the court. He gave solid legal advice, and I truly feel he fought for me. He worked to bring the truth before the court, responded to my emails in a timely manner, and made sure I received court documents promptly. He also gave me realistic expectations about the possible outcomes, which I appreciated.

Attorney fees are expensive in general, but I do feel they did what they could to keep their services as affordable as possible. I also appreciate that they were willing to work with me financially.
What I like most about Arden is that he genuinely cares. He is easy to talk to, down-to-earth, and at the same time very capable as an attorney.

Steve McLaughlin and the entire team at Hills Law Office were exactly what I needed during one of the hardest times in my life. I was emotional, overwhelmed, confused, and honestly all over the place.. and Steve, in his very calm, quiet, slightly intimidating way, kept everything grounded. He made it very clear I was not on the legal team (which was absolutely the right call), and because of that, I was able to step back, focus on my health and my kids, and trust that he had everything handled.

Every single person in that office was warm, kind, and incredibly supportive when I didn’t have anyone else to talk to. They showed up for me in a way I will never forget and truly understood that things aren’t always what they seem.

I’m beyond grateful. Hopefully I never need them like that again.. but I will always recommend them and publicly applaud every single person there. Homies for life. Sorry Steve, that’s just what it is.
