**PLEASE READ** I wish my experience with HEITNER LEGAL had been better. I reached out to Darren for assistance with recovering my YouTube channel after it was terminated due to copyright issues. From the beginning, he made it clear that there were no guarantees, which I completely understood and accepted. My disappointment is not necessarily with the outcome, but with how I felt the matter was handled. Throughout the process, I often felt that I had to be the one reaching out for updates or asking for additional action to be taken. I did not feel there was much proactive communication regarding my case, and at this point, I have not heard from him in months. There were also a few interactions that I found unprofessional given how serious the situation was to me. For example, after four days without an update, I asked whether he had received a response from YouTube. His response was, “No, it’s kind of a big company.” I understood that YouTube could take time to respond, but I found the comment unnecessarily sarcastic, especially since I had personally been receiving responses from YouTube within a day or two. Based on my experience, I also learned that dealing with YouTube copyright and channel-related matters through a third party can be difficult because YouTube may limit the information it provides to someone who is not the channel owner. I wish I had better understood that limitation before hiring legal representation for this particular issue. I understand that no attorney can guarantee a specific result, and my review is not based solely on the fact that my channel was not recovered. My concerns are primarily about communication, responsiveness, and the level of proactive effort I personally experienced during the process. For YouTube copyright matters specifically, based on my experience, I would recommend that creators first explore handling the process directly with YouTube and fully understand what an attorney will and will not be able to do on their behalf before retaining legal counsel.
