This review reflects my belief that the case became unnecessarily adversarial, with conflict taking precedence over common-sense resolution.

I was never a party to this case, nor did I claim to be. I closely followed it because the “opposing party” is someone I know personally. What I witnessed was a 54-year-old traveling nurse who ultimately had to sell her home and, while attempting to comply with the court’s orders, continued to face additional litigation and financial pressure. That is the experience that formed the basis of my opinion.

The firm’s response characterizes my review as proof that they “zealously advocate” for their clients. Readers can decide for themselves whether repeatedly referring to a critic as someone who “inserted himself” into the case, or publicly accusing him of helping another person violate court orders, reflects the level of professionalism they expect.

The only thing I helped with was moving her furniture so she could comply with the court’s orders. Interestingly, Ashley Stilwell was later removed from the case after contacting her directly instead of through counsel.

My review was not written because one side won and the other lost. It was written because, after observing the process from beginning to end, I came away with the impression that the matter became unnecessarily adversarial and that practical resolution was overshadowed by continued conflict.

I stand by that opinion.

Based on what I have personally witnessed, my impression of this firm has been overwhelmingly negative. The approach I observed relied heavily on pressure, aggressive tactics, and repeated threats of legal action, creating the sense that prolonging the conflict was being prioritized over reaching a fair and practical resolution.

I have followed a divorce case involving a 54-year-old traveling nurse, and the process has been difficult to watch. She was ultimately required to sell her home and, in the meantime, was left without stable housing. What I found especially troubling was that, even after the sale of the marital properties, there appeared to be an effort to pursue the very proceeds she was expected to receive from those sales. From my perspective, it felt less like a straightforward division of assets and more like an attempt to reduce or eliminate the funds she was supposed to walk away with.

In my view, the division of two marital homes should not have evolved into such an expensive and prolonged dispute. Rather than encouraging a reasonable settlement, the process seemed to become increasingly adversarial, with significant financial and emotional costs to the individuals involved.

My observations of the conduct of Jake Harder and Ashley Stilwell throughout this matter left me with serious concerns about the firm’s approach and professionalism. While I understand that attorneys have a duty to advocate for their clients, I came away with the impression that litigation and financial pressure were being emphasized over achieving a practical and equitable resolution.

Based on what I have personally seen, I would not recommend this firm.

This is what Jake send me via email and he wants the public to know about it.

“ Ronald,

I do not know why you are still contacting me. Thanks for the review, btw. It always helps us with future clients when the opposing party or the opposing party’s friends leave us reviews. I must be doing something right for my client if you and her are so upset with the results.

I don’t care too much for your opinion. You should go to law school though man it seems like you really know how the legal system works and how cases should go. I’ll write a letter of recommendation for you. Just have to get over the character and fitness portion first…”

My friend was the one upset because this office and their client forced her to sell her own home. They had 2 homes! And while she was making every effort to follow the court order, this office—apparent by the language of this email—continued to make threats and harassment against her. This is exactly why I’m posting a review.

Ryan Kinney and his team - Amy Harris & Chanelle Ridling were incredible to work with for our custody modification case. They jumped in at a moment where time was crucial and fully immersed themselves in all the important details, issues and goals surrounding our case. Ryan was available for every phone call and email as soon as they were sent or returned our messages very quickly. We felt well informed of the process, next steps and he was an incredible advocate for us while still being an experienced, sound voice to help us with decision making or acceptance. We will absolutely seek out Ryan Kinney for any other legal matters.
