If you are a survivor‑victim of coercive control (as defined in C.R.S. § 14‑10‑124 and C.R.S. § 14‑10‑127.5) or any form of domestic abuse that does not follow the “violent incident” model, I would strongly recommend avoiding this firm. My attorney was recommended by people who cared about my situation, and I regret not doing more research before engaging their services.
My attorney, Josh Anderson, told me—after consulting colleagues—that my case was “extremely unique.” From my perspective as a survivor of a 13‑year relationship involving documented domestic violence and a longstanding pattern of coercive control, and based on my research (Bancroft, 2002; Stark, 2007; Aronson Fontes, 2015; Durvasula, 2024; Cocciola, 2024 & 2025 TEDx), my situation was rather typical. That mismatch in understanding was deeply concerning. The characterization of my case as unusual felt more like a lack of familiarity with these dynamics than an accurate assessment.
Additionally, as a neurodivergent client, I repeatedly expressed during our conversations that I do best with written communication. In my experience, this preference was not accommodated; my attorney consistently defaulted to phone calls. Those calls often felt more like lectures about my reactive behaviors and trauma‑recovery work than attempts to understand my situation, and they usually ended without a clear plan. His primary guidance was for me to sit tight, wait, and be quiet—echoing the silencing I had experienced in my relationship. This was destabilizing and retraumatizing rather than grounding and, in my opinion, increased the “high‑conflict” nature of our divorce proceedings.
In reviewing my client file, I noticed the protection‑order materials I had provided at the outset—after my ex filed for divorce days after being served a temporary protection order—were stored in a generic “misc.” folder. I also did not see any organized folder of our email communications. To me, this reinforced the sense that the core safety context of my case, and my need for accessible written communication, were not being treated as central.
Overall, my impression is that this firm is more focused on a traditional billable‑hour model than on educating themselves about coercive control, emotional and psychological abuse, or neurodivergent needs. In my matter, very few tasks were delegated to paralegals or assistants, and I did not experience the trauma‑informed, detail‑oriented representation I needed.

Jennifer Walker is a rare find when it comes to divorce attorneys. The consummate professional, Jennifer always met me with thoughtful and timely communication rooted in her mastery of the law, yet delivered with a level of care and empathy more typical of a therapist or coach.

Jennifer made me feel deeply seen and understood. Always sensitive to ask questions and listen. I felt completely heard and always informed about what was happening in the process. Given the magnitude of personal transformation that divorce catalyzes, this level of compassion and communication is essential, yet, from my understanding, it is sadly atypical with attorney interactions. Never perfunctory and always conscientious, Jennifer's communication is one of her many strong suits.

I was continually impressed and inspired by the effectiveness of Jennifer's legal style:
- Firm in her knowing, yet warm in her delivery.
- Boundaried in her role as a legal professional, yet human in the greater context of the client engagement. (She often asked how I was doing - off the clock - and genuinely cared.)
- Sharp-minded and quickly “gets it” while holding a high level of strategic diplomacy with opposing counsel and patience with clients who need extra hand-holding.
- Knows the law like the back of her hand, yet is open-minded and willing to be creative and collaborative in strategy with clients desiring high-touch involvement.
- Is prepared for trial, yet focuses on fair and effective resolution through mediation.

She understands that the most desired outcome can be achieved through measured and kind communication vs. chaotic, bulldog-like attacking that is historically (and falsely) lauded as THE way to achieve the best divorce outcome.

Rather, Jennifer is a pioneer in guiding clients who want to "do divorce differently," meaning to have favorable outcomes while retaining whatever sense of peace they can. However, don't mistake her calm for weakness as she is incredibly effective.

Jennifer is a model for what a legal process can look like when it is rooted and driven by an energy of love vs. fear. I witnessed her diffuse multiple tense and frustrating situations with her grounded unflappable nature which in turn calmed me.

Jennifer is a calming force for those wishing to divorce with integrity while still getting the outcomes they desire most.

With Jennifer's guidance, I have felt that my divorce process was as easeful and enjoyable as it could be (it's still divorce so it wasn't a walk in the park!) and the outcome was inclusive of everything I desired and more.

While I'm not prognosticating another divorce, if I were, I'd get in line to retain Jennifer. She is THE lawyer in Boulder County and I am endlessly thankful for her patience, persistence, and legal savvy.

Josh Anderson is an outstanding attorney! He helped me revise a parenting plan post-divorce. I love Josh's balanced, practical approach. He helped me look for ways to compromise and come to agreement. He helped me catch parts that were not in my best interest, but was also practical about picking our battles. He has lots of experience that helped me understand what to expect if we were to go to court.

Josh was professional and responsive throughout the process. I would definitely recommend Josh and his team for family law matters.
