I’m a 23-year-old who was seeking legal advice on how to help my 94-year-old great-grandmother who was financially exploited by her own daughter. I did report this to social services and they advised me to seek legal help immediately. My grandmother’s situation is very unfortunate and she asked me to help her because all of her other children and grandchildren are either dead or not stable. We had a consultation set up with attorney Nancy Roberts which we were asked to pay $300 in advance, I’ve never had such a gut-wrenching experience like this in my life. When we got there, attorney Roberts and a lady claiming to be a client advocate took her to a room by herself for an hour to ask her questions that she didn’t understand, and told me they were required by law to do that. They wouldn’t even let me back there or hear a word I had to say and claimed that my grandmother was incompetent because she couldn’t even get her age right, by the way they were mistaken on her age and my grandmother was right about being 94, and not to mention my grandmother just had a WellCare visit that checked for signs of incompetency. Not only did they try to play health care professionals but they also pulled up a public record situation that happened with other family members a few years back and had the completely wrong idea about it, which hints at why my grandmother was confused. Long story short I felt that we were immediately judged before we even had a chance to plead our case. My grandmother was completely uncomfortable and asked me why they did that and why I couldn’t be in there. Luckily we found an attorney to hear us out and is actively working on helping us with my grandmother's case. This is a very sensitive and nerve-wracking experience for me at such a young age and I just wish we had been handled a little differently even if she didn’t want to take our case. The front clerk was the only welcoming person we spoke to and for these reasons, I cannot recommend this office especially if you are a person of color or going through a similar situation and I hate to bring that up, but it just felt racially motivated.

Amidst our father’s battle with dementia, we were faced with a family issue that led us to seek legal advice. Through the Union County, NC, Council on Aging, we were introduced to Nancy Roberts with the Collins Family and Elder Law Group. Ms. Roberts was a great help to us in navigating and resolving a difficult situation while balancing the ongoing care needs for our father. She was very professional, accommodating, and always treated us with respect and kindness. We hope that others will take advantage of the legal counsel offered by Ms. Roberts and the Collins Family and Elder Law Group when caring for their loved ones.

I don’t usually leave reviews, but this one is earned.

I went into this situation dealing with some serious allegations and, honestly, I was skeptical at first. Seeing nothing but perfect five-star reviews made me question if it was too good to be true. It’s not.

From the very beginning, Paulina Havelka, was professional, straightforward, and completely on top of everything. She didn’t make empty promises and she explained the process, kept me informed, and built a strong, clear strategy. Most importantly, she actually listened and treated me like a person, not just another case.

When it mattered most, she showed up prepared, confident, and in control. The way she handled my case and challenged the allegations made all the difference, and the outcome speaks for itself.

If you’re in a tough situation and need someone who knows what they’re doing and will actually fight for you, I can say from experience you’re in the right place. Every one of those five-star reviews is well deserved.
