A close friend of mine hired Linda Lillivek several years ago. At the initial meeting, Ms. Lillivek demanded a large deposit of $10,000 and made numerous promises about quickly getting her child back. However, in the end, she did very little work while billing around $20,000 within just two weeks, claiming it was mainly based on her associate’s rate of $200 per hour. To put that in perspective, that would require 40 hours of work per week for two consecutive weeks — something that seems virtually impossible.

Upon reviewing the itemized bill, my friend discovered multiple charges for services that were never provided, including interpreter fees and filing fees. She confronted Ms. Lillivek, who admitted some items were not actually incurred but insisted on keeping the entire $10,000 deposit and demanded even more money. Frustrated, my friend terminated Ms. Lillivek and hired a different attorney, who successfully helped her regain custody of her child.

I strongly advise staying away from this attorney. It appeared her priority was collecting money rather than genuinely helping clients.

Linda was able to attend a very important meeting with less than 3 days notice. Had an out of the box suggestion to offer in our negotiation during the meeting that everyone loved and I'm sure helped our case. Continues to offer support but not waste our retainer as things are going well and additional work isn't currently necessary. I am so grateful she was able to jump in and guide us through this mess!
