★☆☆☆☆ I hired Frank Brazil to represent me at an order-of-protection hearing in Marion County and paid $8,000 for that representation. I’m writing about my own experience as a former client, and I’ll stick to facts I saw firsthand or that appear in the court record. Before the hearing, I asked Mr. Brazil to call specific witnesses. He didn’t. He also did not put me on the stand to testify in my own case. On the morning of the hearing, he filed a 24-page motion that the court and opposing counsel received about 20 minutes before we started. The judge’s later written order states that the filing was untimely and, on its face, unrelated to the petitions being heard. The same order states that Mr. Brazil did not object when the court excluded a witness, did not try to call that witness himself, and never submitted an affidavit showing what that witness would have said. I’m not a lawyer, and I’m not offering legal conclusions. But as a client, I expected preparation, timely filings, and my witnesses called. I did not get those things, and the outcome of the hearing was not favorable to me. If you’re considering hiring this firm, I’d ask them for a clear written plan covering witnesses, filing deadlines, and what happens if something goes wrong.
