My wife and I have had a "clean" relationship with the IRS since Moses was just a young pup. By clean, I mean we (over)paid early every year, kept clean records and generally made nice. Of course, when we had our biggest income year EVER (due to the sale of a closely held business) everything went to hell in a hand basket. Suffice it to say that errors made by those we hired to represent us (think - never filed our taxes) put us in the sights of the IRS to the tune of uncomfortably into the six figures.
