Late January, Beck, Owen & Murray responded to our inquiry about legal services for wills and some deed work. Specifically, we heard from Janice Wallace that “I can help you with these items”. In that response, she estimated 4-6 hours based on the information and background we had provided.

We (my wife and I) met with Janice on March 9th, discussed the specifics of what we needed, and asked that she take on the work for two wills and a deed modification. Janice agreed.

We had not heard back from Janice after the initial meeting, and called to inquire of status on March 26, since it had been almost 3 weeks and her initial time estimate was 4–6 hours. (We also did not get a response from two inquiry emails around this date). We spoke by telephone (March 26) and Janice indicated that there were no issues or questions and that she would get to the work soon.

On March 9, one month after we began, we again requested (email) the status of our work and expressed concern on what appeared to be a lack of progress. Janice emailed the next day: “I’m actually out of town today but back in the office Monday. I’ll plan to get to this Monday when I’m back.”

Due to the lost time and lack of progress since March 9th, we requested that the wills be tabled for the time being and focus exclusively on the deed modifications since it was more time sensitive. Never heard back from Janice on this.
