I had an extremely disappointing experience with Attorney Azam Nizamuddin, a highly paid divorce lawyer charging $375 per hour, with 27 years of experience. I hired him for my divorce case, hoping that, as a fellow Muslim, he would understand my situation through an Islamic perspective and work to achieve a fair outcome. Unfortunately, he completely failed to meet even the basic expectations of a lawyer.

He stalled my case for almost a year, barely communicated, and would only call me a day or two before court dates, despite my repeated attempts to reach him. When I asked for clarification on simple matters, he was rude and dismissive, often saying, “I already told you.”

He also manipulated me into filing an Order of Protection (OOP) against my ex-husband, even after I told him that he had never physically hurt me. This added unnecessary stress and complicated my case. After the judge denied the OOP, he continued submitting it every month, seemingly just to charge me more fees and drag the case.

I was shocked by excessive and questionable charges. For example:
- $3280 charged for attending a court 10 min video call that he never even appeared for in person.
- Tasks billed at his high lawyer rate with no paralegal involvement.
- Charges for things he did not actually do, including claiming I had not sent documents when I had emailed them days earlier.

He caused unnecessary mental and financial stress on top of an already difficult situation. His lack of professionalism, communication, and honesty was appalling. A Muslim lawyer obsessed with his fees and charges interest on late fees - Astaqfirullah!

When I challenged his excessive charges with his account manager, Azam left me a threatening voicemail, claiming he would place a lien on me to collect his fees. I was forced to sue him and ultimately settled the matter as a charitable act (sadaqa).

After switching to a different lawyer, who was non muslim Jessica Lapczynska | Attorney Williams, Farmer & Olechno, my case was completed efficiently, fairly, and without greed. I strongly advise against hiring Azam Nizamuddin. Despite being highly paid, he seems more interested in money than in helping clients. Money earned on my case is Haraam on him.
