My partner and I were married in the spring of 2023. That summer, we prepared and filed for my husband’s green card on our own. A year later, USCIS denied my husband’s green card on a technicality that was not our fault. We were promptly sent a “you must leave the country in thirty days” letter.

My husband and I went into full panic mode. I called, researched, and investigated scores of NYC attorneys, all of whom told us that they had no appointments available for at least two months (well past our USCIS deadline date).
