Greg Abel has a very realistic approach and fought very well in a nasty trial. He’s not unnecessarily aggressive which the judge definitely liked, but really got his points across and knew the best things to put focus on and nailed it. He kept us well informed throughout the process and always got things done in a timely fashion despite the opposing counsel making things difficult and delayed. I would recommend him to anyone going through a divorce.

Called today to retain this attorney for a family law case that was filed 13 years ago in SLO county. I currently live in another state- I was ready to retain the firm but wanted to first be sure that they would actually have jurisdiction and not my current state. Reception said verbatim "he does not answer any legal questions over the phone but we can schedule you a consultation which is $300 an hour". I said "I simply need to know if you are able to do the work I need done before I hire you". Nope. I don't even live in California anymore so this option wasn't going to work for me. Thanks for nothing and say sayonara to a case that would've probably cost me ALOT- and made you ALOT. Bad business.

I hesitate to give this review because I think Greg is a very good attorney, but, I feel his interests in my case were strictly mercenary. I had a short marriage, no kids or community property, and in my first meeting with Greg, he even told me there was "nothing here", meaning it should have been settled quickly and cheaply. But, it took Greg close to a year before he could get a settlement offer from the opposing attorney. Six days before we were supposed to go to trial, Greg gave me legal advice that would cost me many thousands more in professional fees and extend the process at least another month, and involve me going through a time consuming forensic audit of my personal and business finances. I disagreed with his advice and he invited me to go to trial and represent myself, or find another attorney.....this was only 6 days before trial!!! Fortunately for me, I had access to another attorney who had a background in family law, and she gave me sound legal advice and told me how to get Greg on board with a different course of action. When I went back to Greg with her plan, he told me he was going to quit my case 6 days before trial, or he would use a legal maneuver that would get him excused from representing me. Fortunately, my other Attorney anticipated these actions and advised me on how to counter them......After that unpleasant conversation, Greg settled my case in less than 24 hours.....If it wasn't for my other Attorney and her good legal advice, I feel my outcome with Greg would have been much more time consuming, expensive and unsatisfactory.....When you are spending the type of money an Attorney of Greg's experience charge, you shouldn't have to hire another Attorney to protect you against your Attorney, and I had to do that in this case. I feel Greg didn't give me his best work and it was to his advantage because he made more money by not settling my case as efficiently as I feel he could have.

Through the entirety unpleasant and vulnerable process... Greg and Nicole were excellent to work with. Always very professional, and available. Greg did an amazing job of explaining pros/cons of every fork in the road.

Greg is not afraid to tell it like it is... which could be unsettling at first, but it was a difficult time and a reality I needed to hear and adjust to.

I was always comforted to have Greg representing me.
