I contacted this firm regarding a trademark dispute with a June 15 deadline and was referred by an attorney I highly respect. Because of that recommendation, I had high expectations going into the conversation. I understand that firms have intake procedures and that consultations with attorneys may be paid. My issue was not the fee. My issue was the overall client experience. Throughout the call, I felt more like I was being qualified as a lead than someone seeking urgent legal assistance. I repeatedly explained that I was facing a deadline and was trying to determine whether I should fight the claims against me, negotiate, or take some other course of action. The process seemed focused on scheduling a future paid consultation rather than addressing the urgency of the situation. What disappointed me most was the communication. I tried to explain that I wasn't getting the sense that the firm cared about my situation. I was not asking for special treatment or a discount. I was trying to express that I wanted confidence that the people I hired would genuinely care about helping me through a stressful legal dispute. When I described wanting the feel of a firm that would fight for me, my comment was met with a literal response that the firm was "not a family firm." That completely missed the point of what I was trying to communicate. I was referring to the feeling of being heard and understood, not the practice area of the firm. The conversation ultimately ended without even a proper goodbye, leaving me with the impression that once I expressed hesitation about paying for a consultation, the discussion was effectively over. The attorney who was recommended to me may be excellent. My review is not about the attorney's qualifications. It is about the intake experience. First impressions matter, especially when a prospective client is facing a legal deadline and looking for guidance. Unfortunately, I left the call feeling like a number in a process rather than a person seeking help.
