I called the office to set an appointment to speak with an attorney about Estate Planning. I had a brief conversation with a gentleman (did not catch his name). He explained we could come in for a free 30 minute consult. The Firm would give me some "homework" to fill out, and it was a simple matter for them to draw up the paperwork after I sent it back to them. I asked when I could come in, as I lived 50 miles outside town. He said anytime the next day would be fine - as long as it wasn't between 1 and 2 - he couldn't guarantee they would have someone manning the phones thru lunch.
I stopped in the next morning, introduced myself and my wife to the Receptionist, and explained we were there for a 30 minute consult. She checked her schedule and esplained she could fit me in March.
I was confused, and explained the previous conversation. I even went so far as to show her on my phone history that I had, indeed called the Office at app. 10:05 the previous day.
She was as dumbstruck as I was, explaining there had been no men in the Office at that time the previous day.
Which leads me to the following -
Who the heck is answering the phones at this Law Firm?
And thank my lucky stars I didn't divulge anything too personal.

Follow Up After Owner's Response -
While I certainly appreciate the offer to come back and start fresh, I do take exception with the following:
Someone answered your Office phone. That fact is undeniable. I showed the Receptionist my phone history and she could see I called your office, your number at 10:05 AM the previous day. That person represented themselves as a member of your Firm, and provided me with instructions that were at least tangential to the instructions you, yourself, would have given me.
Your response made it seem as though you take this MASSIVE breach in the security of your Office as a minor annoyance rather than the extremely sensitive issue it is.
I won't begin to think I can tell you how to run your very successful Firm, Mr. Owens...but I do believe your focus was misplaced in this instance.

I'm in my late 80's and wanted a Trust revision. Reading over all the copies, there was much I did NOT understand. I was told to mark it and return. In fact, I did a few times, Jared and his staff, explained everything to me, in terms I understood, and did it so patiently ! I'm so impressed and would highly recommend them to everyone ! My kids live out of state, and we're reassured they can call for follow through when the time comes. And, what comfort I feel knowing my last requests will be carrried out.
