I started to respect this man at 21 when I volunteered at the end of a 12 hour midnight shift as a deputy sheriff in Caldwell County to ride shotgun as a gun to provide security going down to Hurricane Katrinas ex post facto.

I was 22 years old and thought I was special. I could not stay awake to keep my driver awake.

We had to halt the convoy and I heard an animated drill Sergeant voice with a dash of comedic prowess yelling at me to wake up, EXPLETIVE, EXPLETIVE.

I thought... Who is this guy, you know!? I also kinda thought... Not just a suit... He was a motivated leader.. Grinning on the inside...

Since then fate has crosses our paths sevrral times in the best kinds of ways.

When I met Mr O'Connor, I was in trouble for the first time. Mr O'Connor always calmed my anxiety. When we went to court, he made sure I knew exactly what to expect. He was available to answer any questions I had.

Civil law is ferocious and insensible, but Matt navigated with wisdom. He was easy to talk to, always communicated with us directly, and saw us through to the finish.
Thankfully, we didn't have to see a trial, but I imagine he is an artisan in the courtroom. Most importantly, he seems to genuinely care.
