I retained Mr. Gilman as my lawyer on September 22, 2022, for a slip and fall incident that occurred on September 6, 2022, at the lobby entrance of my apartment building. Since then, I've unfortunately experienced ongoing communication challenges with both Mr. Gilman and his staff.
I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Gilman since April 2024. Unfortunately, neither he nor his staff have reached out to me with updates regarding the status of my case. Over the past two years, I’ve made several attempts to connect with Mr. Gilman and his team. The last time I did manage to speak with him, he mentioned he was investigating the lien situation with the physical therapist and MRI provider he referred me to.
In September 2024, I sent an email to provide an update that I had received most of my medical records. I also inquired about the lien situation, the potential value of my case, and an estimated timeline for resolution. I received a response only regarding the medical records, but I did not hear back on the other matters, and this was the last communication I had with Mr. Gilman or his team.
On February 3, 2025, I sought advice from another personal injury lawyer about the communication issues, and she recommended sending a certified letter. I followed this advice and also emailed Mr. Gilman. He returned my call on February 6 with a new phone number (4th phone number), explaining that he was on vacation and asked that I contact him on February 18. I called and left a message but did not hear back. I called again on February 24, leaving another message, but unfortunately, there was still no response.
Through my conversations with the personal injury lawyer's paralegal, I learned that the statute of limitations for my case will expire on September 6, 2025, which adds urgency to the situation.
Since the slip and fall incident, my condition has worsened. I’ve had to visit the emergency room and attend physical therapy multiple times for worsening back pain. I've also had an epidural steroid injection and been seeing various specialists for anxiety and depression.
Sadly, I have been unable to communicate these updates to Mr. Gilman due to the lack of consistent communication from his office. Additionally, I have repeatedly requested a copy of my personal files without success. Given these ongoing issues, I felt it necessary to file a complaint with the Attorney Grievance Committee due to Mr. Gilman’s lack of responsiveness and communication.
This situation is very disheartening, as I had hoped Mr. Gilman would be more proactive and helpful in addressing my case. I truly hope that we can find a resolution soon so that my case can move forward, and I won’t lose it due to the statute of limitations.
