On October 1, 2024, my life was disrupted by the Police Department in my city. I was essentially charged with obstruction of justice. Long story short, I have never been in trouble. I am a law-abiding citizen, and I have been an employee of the federal government for more than two decades. Once charged, I had no clue who to call, who to trust, and I was afraid; sometimes, as a person of color, odds are stacked against you, and it seems there is no way out. But then, I observed Mr. Murphy in court, he was my way out. Always in a suit and tie and seemingly well respected by everyone, including the court officers, clerks, and the Judge. I started to call various law firms and two advised Mr. Murphy “was one of the best, if not the best. “ That held a lot of weight for me. Before retaining him, I called his office to determine my next steps. His clerk, Molly, took her time to explain the process and immediately contacted Mr. Murphy, who was offsite, for more insight to answer my questions accordingly and to ease my mind. They also advised upfront how much it would be for legal representation, and it was very reasonable considering other quotes. Throughout the process, I was scared. I didn’t know what to expect, and I didn’t know how he would handle my case. Mr. Murphy and his team did everything to settle my nerves and provided repeated trial prep scenarios for me to walk through. After everything, including my horrible nerves, I felt confident that he would win. He told me from the beginning that I “did nothing wrong”, and he was certain of that. His level of confidence, expertise, and gentle-giant demeanor all played a part in a successful outcome. This was one of the most stressful times of my life; however, Mr. Murphy made me feel like I didn’t have to worry about anything. He was very open, honest and straightforward. Molly was amazing too; she was the glue that held me together. I am so appreciative and grateful to this team. I do not doubt that they will represent and prepare you to work towards a favorable outcome. Thanks to Mr. Murphy, I will keep my job for decades to come. This week justice prevailed and he made that possible.
