My name is Charlie Rogers. I am a resident of Jacksonville FL. In February 2024 while working a temporary job near Atlanta, on a Friday evening after I had just got off work, I approached an intersection entering a right turn with a yield sign. I paused for oncoming traffic on my left, a commercial cargo van was trailing my car also in the turn, but I couldn't proceed because of the traffic impeding me - the traffic zone speed limit was about 45 to 55 mph - therefore I had to wait until a gap or opening which could allow me to merge into the intersection. As I coasted a couple feet intending to merge at a safe point break in the moving traffic to my left, the cargo van rear-ended me pushing my car half into the intersection, I immediately shifted into reverse back onto the shoulder beside the yield sign to avoid the traffic moving toward me (45-55 mph). State police was called and the driver of the van admitted he was at fault and received a citation for following to close. There are other details but they aren't necessary to this review. Although my car's rear bumper and left side panel was damaged considerably from the rearend collision, my car remained safe to drive. I proceeded to commute back home to Jacksonville FL for the weekend as I had been doing since the job began. However, I could not return because of pain that followed the accident and I immediately began chiropractic treatment.
