I am sharing my personal experience so others can make informed decisions.

Over a period of more than two years, I consulted multiple attorneys regarding a potential medical malpractice matter in New York. I was repeatedly advised that no legal action could be taken unless and until the New York State Department of Health / Office of Professional Medical Conduct (OPMC) became involved.

Relying on this guidance, I pursued the OPMC process in good faith. I later learned that an OPMC investigation does not toll or extend the statute of limitations for filing a civil malpractice lawsuit.

Unfortunately, this critical information was never clearly explained to me at the time, which ultimately prevented me from pursuing my legal rights.

This review reflects my personal experience and is intended to encourage clearer communication with future clients facing similar situations.
