Jennifer Ezeigwe and Cristian Morales were my legal team in the Sussman Law Firm. I cannot say enough good things about them and the incredible work they did for my brother. From the very beginning, they worked so hard on his case and never made us feel like we were alone. They were professional, compassionate, responsive, and truly cared about helping my brother and our family through an extremely stressful and difficult situation. What meant the most to us was their dedication. They went above and beyond, kept working on the case, communicated with us, and fought to find the best possible solution. During a time when our family was worried and overwhelmed, having Jennifer and Cristian on our side gave us hope and reassurance. I am truly grateful for everything they did for my brother. Their hard work, compassion, and commitment made a tremendous difference to our family. **Thank you, Jennifer and Cristian, from the bottom of my heart. For the love of everything good and holy PLEASE DO NOT retain this law firm until they fix their communication issues and customer service! I wish I had read the reviews before booking this law firm for a Family Law case. The bottom line is that the 7 different people I spoke to or worked with over the course of 3-4 months were all very terrible at communication and customer service. I retained them, and my assigned attorney repeatedly missed scheduled meetings and calls with me (that she scheduled). I was asked to refill the retainer after just 2 attorney meetings and 1 court appearance, bringing my total expenditure to close to $10,000. After refilling the retainer I expected a certain amount of progress on my case, but there was literally NO PROGRESS. I decided to write my own custody agreement and work directly with my ex (which was why I hired a lawyer in the first place so I didn't have to deal with her), and when I communicated explicitly to Sussman that I was done paying them another cent, they asked me to refill the retainer again! One individual from Sussman reached out to me directly and heard my side of the story... she told me she understood and that she would speak with the owner about a resolution. Her exact words "You'll be dealing with me from now on and we'll get this sorted." However, I never heard from her again, and a new person started reaching out asking for more payment. I wrote an email detailing all of the charges I was charged for "internal working on my case," things that DID NOT benefit me or my case in any way. I requested a refund of less than $1,000 which was left in my retainer, but somehow that money was "spent" on things once again unrelated to my case, or to "close my case" as they put it. They are still asking me to send them an additional $75. Their marketing, advertisements, emails, even their "hold-music" touts how great their customer service is, how you're a "VIP" when you book with them... In my experience it was/is simply not true, and far from the truth. They treated me as though I was an open bank account that they could withdraw from as often as they wanted. They never explained how much a conversation with my attorney would cost even though I asked for it in the introductory meeting. They never explained that internal conversations between lawyers could deplete my retainer. They never explained why internal conversations between lawyers was even necessary for my case. My case was super simple, standard, run-of-the-mill. And if I had expectations that weren't aligned with how they do business it is THEIR JOB to communicate and align my expectations to their costs and services, not the other way around. I would have had a really positive experience with them if they had simply EXPLAINED how their process worked and gave me the ability to navigate what I wanted vs. what I didn't want from them. Hence my position that their ultimate fail is not about their ability to do their job but entirely about how they EXPECT they can treat their customers. Someone at that company should be able to sit with their customer (aka me) and communicate the process, and even after my email requesting that, they outright refused to do so (the last person I spoke to on the phone, and the letter I just received today asking me to send them more money).

I paid the full agreed amount — a very significant sum — expecting my case to be followed through to the end. They filed only one petition, and as soon as they received a negative reply, they simply stopped everything and abandoned the process entirely. I was never notified, given no updates, and never guided on next steps. I tried contacting them for months and was completely ignored. For such a substantial payment, barely any actual work was delivered. Attorney Ian Ballard never spoke to me beyond the single conversation to agree on fees and sign the contract — he never even sent me a single email. At times I even question whether anything was truly done at all, or if they just handled things carelessly. The service was only half‑finished, and for that reason I am demanding an adjustment of the amount paid. I feel deeply wronged, robbed and deceived by broken promises and total lack of commitment. It is as if they are playing with people’s lives, dreams and goals. I am not saying everyone is the same — this is solely my negative experience specifically with Para‑Legal Bruna Adams and Attorney Ian Ballard. My warning: think very carefully before hiring. Demand real commitment and certainty that you will not be abandoned at the first difficulty.

I honestly would give negative stars if I could. I have dealt with several attorneys in the past and by far ai have never dealt with such an unprofessional and unethical law firm before. Please do no sown your money here. I came in with a standing court date for a consolation just to find out after the consolation (and after I paid thousands of dollars) that they had not one attorney available to represent me on the date that I gave during my consult. On top of that they spent over $3000 in internal communications with ea bother on how to try to cover my court date (which there did not). Please find a much more ethical law firm that atleast has the moral ground to let you know they won’t have the time to represent you without making you spend over $3000.
