DCS removed my daughter from my exhusbands care, they appointed Jennifer Young as my daughters Guardian ad litem.
I am deeply disappointed with the representation my daughter received in this case. Jennifer Young, did not demonstrate genuine concern for my child’s well-being or make a meaningful effort to understand her situation.
At no point did she meet with my daughter directly. Instead, a CASA advocate was sent in her place, who did not appear to have a clear or accurate understanding of the case. This created confusion and inconsistency in communication.
Throughout the process, we were repeatedly told one thing outside of court, only to hear something completely different presented to the judge. These contradictions felt blindsiding and undermined our ability to effectively advocate for my daughter.
There were also instances where positions were misrepresented. For example, we were told that Jennifer was strongly opposed to certain steps, yet in court she stated that we were the ones delaying progress. This lack of transparency made it difficult to trust the process.
Most concerning is that the core issue affecting my daughter was never meaningfully addressed or resolved. The experience with DCS as a whole was extremely difficult, and the lack of consistent, child-focused advocacy from the guardian ad litem contributed to that.

I hope future cases receive more attentive, direct, and honest advocacy than what we experienced.
