My experience with Brandon Stevens Law Firm was extremely disappointing. I hired this firm to help with a parenting-plan matter that had already been ordered by the court. What I expected was diligent representation, timely action, and progress toward enforcing my rights as a parent. Instead, nearly two years passed with little meaningful result, and I feel that valuable time with my children was lost during that process. I paid approximately $11,000 in legal fees. Despite that significant amount, no contempt action was filed on my behalf, and the matter continued to drag on. There were also delays that I believe could have been avoided, including issues involving service on the other party and court fees not being paid on time, which resulted in further delays. At one point, Mr. Stevens accused me of being a liar. What was particularly frustrating was that shortly before he terminated our attorney-client relationship, he told me that the documents we had prepared would address the confusion surrounding the issue. Just two days later, his position changed dramatically, and the relationship ended after we expressed our concerns about how the case had been handled. Mr. Stevens ultimately terminated his representation on July 3rd. It then took approximately 4–5 weeks for me to receive my case files and another several weeks to receive detailed billing information. When I finally received the reconciliation, it reflected more than $24,000 in billed fees, despite the approximately $11,000 I had paid. I found the billing extremely concerning and difficult to reconcile with the results obtained. The final $1,000 payment I was asked to make was represented as being for a court filing. To my understanding, that filing never occurred. I also expected certain fees I had paid to be submitted to the court for consideration of reimbursement by the other party. Instead, I was told that any request for fees would be a matter for my new counsel to pursue. I found the overall experience disorganized, frustrating, and deeply disappointing. Communication and positions seemed to change, and I did not feel that my concerns were being taken seriously. Because of the concerns I have regarding the handling of my case and billing, I have also filed a formal complaint with the Washington State Bar Association. I believe these concerns deserve to be independently reviewed. I understand that every case is different and that other clients may have had completely different experiences. I have seen the firm's five-star reviews, and I can only speak to my own experience. Unfortunately, my experience was nowhere close to what those reviews would have led me to expect. After nearly two years, thousands of dollars in legal fees, significant delays, and no contempt action being filed, I am left feeling that I paid for legal representation without receiving the results or level of advocacy I expected. I would not recommend this firm based on my personal experience. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy. If you are considering hiring this firm, I strongly encourage you to carefully review your billing, keep copies of every communication, ask for detailed invoices, and make sure you understand exactly what actions your attorney is taking on your behalf.
