We have years of experience working with Mr. Chao's office. From H1-B to Green Card. Mr. Chao himself seems to be an experienced lawyer, and he has a team of staff; each works for different part of the immigration process. Generally, everything (all the paperwork) is handled by his staff, unless you have questions that the staff cannot answer. Then, you can ask to book a phone call appointment with Mr. Chao. Earlier the better as he seems to be quite busy. During the call, don't automatically expect Mr. Chao to know who you are or what your case might be. He may not. Bottom line is if you think you have a very simple case, Mr. Chao could be an option (his price is reasonable). If you have a complicated case or if you want a team that really cares/thinks for you, he may not be the best option. For our cases, we ended up doing a lot of research and groundwork our self due to our slightly different circumstances. Through our research we found extra rule in submission that would benefit our case, but they didn't tell us. We ended up telling them about it and proceeded with the submission which helped. We also wasted more than an extra year during the process because his staff didn't pay attention to our situation/timeline (at the time). Personally, we would not recommend him to our friends or family.

Great professional service with many teams in every departments. Stanley is a kind and thorough immigration attorney. Highly recommend for people who has issues in this aspect.

I reported to Mr. Stanley Chao my bad experience with his staff. He said he appreciated I let him know it, but he has done nothing to redeem the situation. The business between Chao Law and myself is service in nature. As the service level has become negative, I have to say the service has no value at all!

I was stuck in the last minute panic and turmoil last December upon returning to my home country for a visa application, having no sleep for around 60 hours. Unscrupulous procrastination from a Chao staff created this disruption. Before I left as of December 7, 2011, I must have an H-1B approval notice, which the USCIS mailed out in mid November. His staff told me I should obtain it from my employer, while my employer said she never saw it at all. One day before I left, I called the Chao staff and told her if she didn t produce the approval notice, I would file by myself additional paper work with the USCIS to request a replacement notice. One hour after the call, she asked me to go to the Chao office to pick up the notice. She said after the letter of notice was rejected by my employer, the USCIS forwarded the letter to Chao office, while my employer didn t believe the letter could be rejected by her campus at all. Did the Chao staff lie? Well, after finally having that letter of notice, I had to book a last minute flight departing from Los Angeles instead of San Jose where I live. And I drove from San Jose to Los Angeles with a car loaded with my belongings after overnight packing. Before I arrived at Los Angeles, I hadn t got any sleep for 60 hours, and it was amazingly a safe drive! The Chao office staff s delay put my health and safety at risk. I spent $500 more for the flight, and I had to depart and arrive in Los Angeles instead of where I am in San Jose! And instantly after a 20 hour flight back to Los Angeles, I drove back to San Jose during a cold night catching a cold!

Before this incidence, I paid a premium and used the expedited service. The Chao staff had no due attention to this time value. With an MBA degree from the U.S. and a Ph.D. from Hong Kong (with strong documentation of credentials in English), she showed no skills in waivering the credential evaluation. Instead, she wanted to recommend service which took 7 to 10 days to finish the evaluation, and which she said was the fastest service. Just to cooperate and work within her comfort zone, I used a one-day service, and sent her the next day the evaluation report authored by the dean of school of business at the Univ. of Maryland. Well, you have to do the evaluation for your master s and bachelor s, too, she threatened, otherwise you need to be responsible by yourself for USCIS s decline opinion. O.K., that s fine, please go ahead and do the paperwork, I said to her. What she can do is to put a number on the bill, and to use her poor English language skills on the paperwork.

During the H-1B amendment this year, the Chao staff asked me to go to the office to have a discussion. What cannot be discussed over the phone? She said Chao office doesn t like to have any conversation recorded over the phone. What s wrong with its phone conversation? During the meeting, the first 25 minutes were allocated to something totally irrelevant, and the next five minutes were used to discuss the real business. Instantly after the talk, the Chao staff sent me a bill showing $800 in attorney fee, while prior to that, my employer got a quote of $500 to $800. Well, what s the quality of the work? The Chao staff said I shouldn t expect any notice or letter from the USCIS. After I questioned this to Mr. Chao, his staff sent me a copy of Notice of Receipt from the USCIS.

The service I received from the Chao office has been nothing more than frustration. Mr. Chao agreed with what I said above. I have sent his office an email asking for feedback to this review. I don't wish to taint its reputation with any information that is inaccurate or incomplete to the best knowledge of mine.
