When my divorce trial ended with my being awarded a substantial settlement, my ex went to fight the final decree in the Court of Appeals. Although the appeals process is notoriously, painfully slow, Karlene never lost her fire in defending my interests, and the end result was the Court of Appeals affirming the trial court's decision in my favor. When my ex then petitioned the Supreme Court of Texas on the same property division issues, Karlene was right there again, slapping down his weak arguments without breaking a sweat, and the Supreme Court denied his petition. If it hadn't been for her incredibly nuanced knowledge of Texas Family Law and the inner-workings of the appellate courts, I could well have lost the settlement that the trial court judge had deemed "just and right" under Texas law.
