I had a paid Zoom consultation with attorney Lucy Betteridge at Sharma Crawford Law Firm on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. During the consultation, Lucy and I discussed whether the firm could take my case. At the end of the call, I understood they would be moving forward. Five days later, I called the office and asked to work with Sharma or Michael. I was told Sharma does not go to immigration court and that only Michael does. When I asked to work with Michael, I was told I would need to pay for another consultation. I was also told the attorneys all work together on cases, so I said I was fine working with Lucy Betteridge. The office then told me they would send me a contract within two hours so I could make payment and Lucy could start my case as soon as possible. Four hours passed with no email or contact. I called again, and they said they were going to send it again. A couple of hours later, I received an email stating the firm had decided to decline to move forward with my case. The email said: "After careful consideration, she has asked me to let you know that we must respectfully decline to move forward with your case. We always want to ensure that our clients feel fully confident and supported in their legal representation, and we want you to have an experience that meets your expectations. Because of that, we believe it is best to allow you to seek alternative counsel who may be a better fit for your specific preferences." What I don't understand is this: I was told all the attorneys at the firm work together on cases. So why would simply asking whether I could work with Sharma or Michael —a question any client should be allowed to ask — lead to my case being declined? If the attorneys all work together, it should not matter which one I asked about. The email frames it as being about my "preferences," but it was the firm's own office that told me the attorneys work together in the first place. The sequence that stood out to me: I was originally appointed to Lucy, I asked whether I could work with Sharma or Michael instead, I was told I would have to pay for another consultation, I then agreed to stay with Lucy, I was told a contract was coming within two hours and after all of that, I was declined. I am sharing this so other potential clients know to get clear, written confirmation before relying on a verbal commitment from Lucy Betteridge or this office.

DO NOT CALL IF YOUR FAMILY MEMBER IS ALREADY IN A DETENTION FACILITY... THEY "ARE NOT INTERESTED" Do not call if your family member is already detained by ICE; this lawyer doesn't care about these cases.

The worse experience i had in my life, I called to get one simple information and they putted me on hold for 25 minutes and hang off without talk to me, they didn't uploaded my photos and when I got in the interview I was asked about the wedding pictures because wasn't uploaded from the attorney, charged me a lot of money and didn't do the simple thing, upload the photos, now my work permit was delivered at the attorney's office one week ago and they didn't tell me anything about it, so disappointed and frustrated, I don't recommend them.
