This lawyer is afraid to take malpractice cases in the state he does malpractice law.

From their letter rejecting my case:

"I am not able to proceed because of the current laws for medical malpractice cases in this state. This series of laws is called MICRA. The MICRA laws make it very difficult to pursue a malpractice case. Highlights of the law include a cap on damages; a limit on evidence to be used as damages and
special defenses for health care providers. All of these limitations take the risk out of the case for the malpractice defendant’s and their insurance carriers. This enables them to force nearly every one of these cases to trial. This makes malpractice cases economically risky and time consuming. This makes many good medical malpractice cases economically impossible to pursue."
