Sydney has represented our family in a very demanding family law case for several years. She is extremely knowledgeable and has a strong understanding of family law. I’ve been impressed with how well she understands all the details of the case and how prepared she is, especially in court. She is professional, hard-working, and very personable. Most importantly, you can genuinely tell she cares about her clients and the work she does. Our family is very thankful for everything she has done, and I would highly recommend her.

I truly don’t even know where to begin when it comes to expressing how grateful I am for everyone at SC Family Law. Sydney has represented me through an extremely complex and high-conflict case, and I genuinely feel like I owe her my life. She has helped me through one of the most difficult and important times of my life, and because of her dedication, knowledge, and advocacy, my daughter is happy, safe, and thriving. She genuinely cares about her clients as people, and you never feel like you are just another case or another name on her desk. She has supported me, guided me, and fought for what mattered most when I needed someone in my corner. Sydney knows the law inside and out, but more importantly, she knows how to use it. She is incredibly sharp and quick on her feet in the courtroom. She listens, thinks fast, knows how to respond in the moment, and advocates with confidence and purpose. She is incredibly intelligent, highly educated, extremely well respected, and exceptionally good at what she does. Her knowledge, professionalism, and ability to navigate even the most difficult situations have given me a sense of security during times when I felt completely overwhelmed. I will never be able to fully express how grateful I am for everything Sydney has done for my daughter and me. Having someone with her knowledge, strength, and genuine compassion beside me through the most difficult years of my life has meant more than I can put into words. She has made an incredible impact on our lives, and choosing Sydney to represent me is one of the best decisions I could have made. I truly could not have asked for a better attorney or a better person to have by my side through it all.

SERIOUS WARNING TO PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS I strongly caution anyone considering Sydney Cadwell or SC Family Law to think very carefully before retaining this attorney. This attorney NO SHOWED to day one of my two day hearing when they were supposed to be in El Cajon courthouse in person at 8am they were stuck in Coachella valley where they went to stagecoach the night before instead of returning to San Diego in time for court the night before stating their car was stolen and were not mentally prepared to stand trial an hour before my all day evidentiary hearing was to take place…and then a week out from a secondary hearing for support modification this attorney dropped me after I paid IN ADVANCE A FLAT FEE stating “ongoing personal matters” and a need to “reduce workload and release clients with immediate litigation needs” On top of this this attorney missed deadlines so serious that it caused me the ability to have my expert witness allowed to testify and also had all evidence of this expert witness thrown out because this attorney never filed a witness list in time. She had me pay for my two day hearing in advance and in full as a flat fee and offered no refunds for this horrific mess up and actually asked me for an additional $8,000 or Asked for an exchange to essentially agree to not reporting her and then she’d let those new charges go… This has been the most extreme amount of stress and regret I’ve ever had and wish to warn anyone considering this attorney, this is a warning based on personal experience and an urge for prospects to do their own due diligence and research. This review is intended as a warning to prospective clients based on my personal experience. Please do your due diligence before entrusting your case to this firm.

This review is VERY MUCH long overdue! I apologize for the novel I'm about to write, so just in case: TLDR - Monica is amazing and if you go with her, she will keep you grounded, staying on task, and with a good goal in mind, but still go above and beyond to make sure you understand every step. She will also be your biggest protector and definitely won't tolerate any bs from the other side. So my story starts 4 YEARS AGO! Yup...my ex wife and I separated September 2022. I filed the paperwork with an attorney who honestly didn't do much, didn't have an actual office location, and frankly was charging me for hours that were not legit. I fired him immediately. During this time, I was transitioning with my business, so money was tight and I had to search for a paralegal to assist. We got stuff finally starting to move along, but it was still a very long and annoying process, mainly from my ex wife and the fact she got an attorney based out of Riverside even though we were in OC court.. I decided to finally hire a firm in January of 2025, but still wanted to be self represented so I could at least save some money. I then met Monica, and she agreed to help me with this. From day one, she showed that she had a vast amount of knowledge and was ready to get my case to the finish line! She reviewed everything, was a great asset when issues came up with my ex involving my children's safety, and was quick to tell me "that won't work" based on focusing what is best for the children and not just spite. Needless to say though, my ex did not make it easy, and there were times we wanted to just hit our heads against a wall. Now I know what you may be thinking..."oh only the attorneys get rich during divorce and we get screwed." Now with my ex wife, that is exactly what happened. Her attorney delayed in responses, didn't file paperwork, would request things but then not review them, and asked for anything and everything even without grounds, but also, I was assuming she was trying to drain my ex. Now with Monica, yes I paid the firm good money and yes it hurt, but you get what you pay for it and in my honest opinion, it was worth EVERY PENNY I SPENT since I hired her! There was even an incident involving criminal assault charges my ex wife tried to sneak in, and even though Monica wasn't able to help me at all with that (it was in another state), she figured out a game plan to put up defenses should it become an issue, and still checked in with me when I traveled in case I ever got picked up while we were working on fixing it. She also calmed me down...cause like I said...my ex wife took me for a wild ride and sometimes I wanted to just nuke everything and everyone, but she brought me back reminding me the end game was divorce, and 50/50 custody for the kids which is what's best for them. So she came on board February of 2025, and by January of 2026, I was bifurcated! Monica would stay on top of my ex's attorney and if she felt it was taking them too long to do something, she just said let's do it ourselves to get it done faster, but wouldn't be quick to do that since she also was concerned about having to charge me more money. She was caring, understanding, and honestly i believe the exact person anyone going through a hard divorce needs...emotions can take over, and sadly, we can lose sight of what's important, or even go after things that don't matter just because we are hurt. Monica kept me not only grounded, but made sure I wasn't a) wasting money and b) understood every step of the process. She was quick to counter any assumptions my ex's attorney came up with, and it was nice when I felt they were acting crazy for some stuff they wanted and she was like "No, they are idiots for thinking that will fly." She is a hardworking fighter and guardian, and I am forever grateful for her and her team in getting me now to the final step...the divorce decree. It took almost 4 years to get here, but literally only 18 months once I brought Monica in my corner, and it was absolutely worth it! Should've done it in the first place!
