I just wanted to thank Heath and his paralegal, Sarah, from the bottom of my heart. They guided me through what I would consider the scariest situation I’ve ever dealt with. A little background on me: I work in the healthcare field and earned my doctorate in a specialized area of medicine that I absolutely love. I am also a mother of (almost) 3 young children, married to a Navy veteran and have a wonderful mom who is well known in our community. I had a lot to lose when I was randomly charged with two felonies. I am truly a law abiding citizen who has never been in trouble in my entire life. The police force is highly respected in our family, especially with my father-in-law holding a high position in the force for the majority of his life. This whole situation has opened my eyes to our justice system, our local police department, and now truly understanding that perfectly innocent people can get caught up in situations that just aren’t what they seem. We had recently lost a baby and were going through our first round of IVF when this situation started. A detective showed up at my house one day to ask a few questions, he was kind and thanked me for being, in his words, “brutally honest.” I met with him a second time, and again he was kind, and I remember being so thankful that he could see who I was as a person, rather than some kind of criminal trying to get away with something. Joke’s on me though, I ended up reading that completely wrong. Unfortunately, this ended up being the same Detective that charged me with both felonies. I was absolutely shocked and terrified. By God‘s miracle, I also found out I was pregnant at this same time. What a weird range of emotions during this time… With so much to lose, I knew I needed someone that was the best, someone who could see past the situation and understand what the truth was. This is when I hired Heath. That was the best decision I’ve made in my life. I’m sure I was not his dream client… A hormonal woman with a high risk pregnancy and a severe anxiety disorder, in a really weird, complex situation, LOL. Despite all of this, Heath treated me with the utmost respect from the moment I met him. At no point did he make me feel stupid or like the criminal that the police officer was making me out to be. Heath & Sarah fought for me this entire case. Not only that, but I felt that Heath protected me in a way I will thank him for the rest of my life. He protected my peace…my mental health…and by doing that he protected our miracle baby that we had we had fought for, for so long. Say what you want about attorneys, but that is powerful proof of who Heath is and how he fights for his clients. Through all of the sleepless nights, panic attacks, and counseling sessions that occurred during this time- Heath kept me hopeful and (cautiously) optimistic about the outcome of my case. The best part of my story is he was able to get both of the felony charges dismissed. I have never been more thankful in my life. Heath & Sarah- thank you from the bottom of my heart. I know I’ve thanked you a million times but I feel this one is the most important so people can know who to turn to when they need an excellent defense team. I will never forget what you did for me. As we prepare for the birth of our little girl, my husband & I are no longer constantly scared and anxious because of what you did for me. You guys are the best.

We had a very urgent Title IX emergency removal situation with my daughter at a university in Michigan. We contacted SBBL law and were able to speak to Stephanie Rowland the same day! She worked quickly to send a letter to university counsel pointing out how they had not appropriately followed Title IX protocol. Stephanie had the emergency removal reversed within 50 hours!
