Very disappointing experience with this firm.

From the beginning, communication was poor. We repeatedly asked for a private call between the attorney and the detainee, but the assistants kept saying it was “not necessary,” which makes no sense in a detention case.

We were never given a clear list of required documents. Instead, I had to personally gather and submit everything that could potentially help the case. When we asked if additional documents were needed (including explanations regarding criminal history), the response was always that the attorney would let us know - but that never happened.

Because of the lack of communication, I reached out directly to Robert Bond. Instead of focusing on the urgency of the situation, he responded by complaining that I contacted him early in the morning because he was in Hawaii. That is completely unprofessional. I contacted him during normal business hours based on the time zone of his office. As a client, it is not my responsibility to track where the attorney is located, especially when I am paying for legal services.

The court hearing was even worse. Another attorney, Richard Emhof, appeared on the case. Based on the firm’s advertising and reviews, we expected strong representation. Instead, it was clear he was not prepared and did not know the client’s background. Basic questions like when the client entered the U.S., whether he had family, or details about his situation were answered with “I believe so,” “I think so,” or “I don’t think so.” This is unacceptable.

The supporting documents and explanations we provided were not properly used. There was essentially no real defense presented.

After the hearing, we were told there were no more options and reminded that they never guaranteed results. We were not asking for guarantees, we expected professionalism, preparation, and that all provided materials would actually be used. Also, be prepared to hear at the end: “that’s why we didn’t charge you much, because we weren’t sure we could win the case.”

What is especially frustrating is that shortly before the hearing, the attorney himself said the case was strong (this was the first call with an attorney ever) and that the arguments were solid, which clearly was not the case.

This firm seems very professional before signing a contract, but once you become a client, the quality of service drops significantly.

Good advertising does NOT equal good legal representation.
